This is weird....I've installed windows media player, i have it externally, but for some reason, the install is failing to complete in my browsers. This has been an ongoing problem actually for months, since I got this machine actually.

Sites that require the windows media plug in are showing up as a "plug in missing" puzzle piece

In safari, it sometimes launches it externally, but is still showing the plug in as missing in the actual browser.

Normally, firefox says "some plug ins are missing, click here to get them" but when i do that, it isnt able to figure out which plug in is missing, so it just says nothing is found, and asks if i want to do it manually

I have posted here about this problem in the past, but I wasnt sure that it was windows media player until recently.

So..my question is, how do i solve this? It's obviously an intel only problem, I've never had problems like this on PPC. I have installed Windows Media, and it automatically installs the plug in into the browser.

I heard there is a universal binary version of flip for mac that may fix it? But I cannot find it.

help!

thanks.

Right...Windows Media Player is not universal, and Microsoft has stopped developing it for Macs entirely, so it's a dead-end product. The universal version of Flip4Mac can be downloaded at their site.

It is telling me "Flip4Mac WMV cannot be installed on this computer. QuickTime version 6.5.1 or later is required to run Flip4Mac WMV Player."

I checked and I am using Quicktime v. 7.1.2

Any idea why this isnt seeing that? It closes right after getting that message and will not install.

I havee been having the same problem on my macbook, and i have flip4mac, but not media player.. things dont load and it tells me i am mising the plug in and doesnt know which one..

Its really frustrating but now i just accept it and try to find whatever it is elsewhere... :(
