I want to move music and documents from a Win 10 machine to a new Mac Mini.

Per the instructions, I downloaded Windows Migration Assistant to the PC, started setup assistant on the Mac, confirmed, selected what I wanted to migrate, and off they went for about 2.5 hours. When it was all done, I finished setting up the new user on the Mac, and went to look in the Documents folder and in Music and there was absolutely NOTHING.

I have not a clue what went wrong nor how to troubleshoot. Thoughts?

Just curious -- you said you set up a new user on the Mac, but I believe the data transferred from the Migration Assistant goes to a migrated account with the same credentials as your account from your PC. Are you sure you're signed in to the right account on your Mac? Also, can you try checking your storage in your Mac (Settings > General > Storage) and see if there's space being used up from your transfer? Because if there isn't, perhaps something went wrong with the transfer and you have to try the transfer again.

@tensixturtle

Thanks for your reply.

I'm sorry, but I think I didn't state things quite correctly in my original post. I was using Migration Assistant on the Windows machine, but on the new Mac I was using Setup Assistant after a fresh, clean OS install, so at the time I ran the transfer operation, no user had yet been set up. Setup Assistant (Mac) created the one and only user as part of the migration from my wife's PC.

I did check storage, and it was only about 12 GB on the Mac, and Migration Assistant on the PC was transferring about 40 GB.

Okay, I see what you mean. The files didn't transfer, so could you possibly try running the migration assistant again please, or have you tried it again already? You can run it on your Mac even after its set up from the Applications/Utilities folder.

I tried it twice, with the same result: Migration Assistant on the PC and Setup/Migration Assistant on the Mac said that the files were being transferred (and it took a while). Then when the transfer appeared to complete, the Mac created a new user account (the first and only when I ran Setup Assistant, and an additional one when I used Migration Assistant the second time). But the files were no where to be found on the Mac.
