Hi,

I've installed iTunes 7.7. on my Windows XP SP2 desktop at work and I would like to sync my Outlook calendar with MobileMe.

Unfortunately it seems that (for some reason) I cannot logon to MobileMe from my desktop. I've entered my username and password (in the MobileMe preference pane in the Windows Control Panel) and pressed the Logon button. After a few minutes the operation times out saying 'Failed to communicate with the MobileMe, please try again later'.

Is this because I'm behind our corporate firewall ? Which port does the MobileMe sync app use and how can I check this ?

Same problem here with a nearly identical setup. Sync works outside the corporate environment but inside the firewall -> no connection.

Windows: MobileMe sync behind corporate firewall ?

Has anyone worked out what ports it uses and or any other tricks to get it working?

Cheers
Sean

I'm trying to work out some mobileme sync issues that I suspect may be firewall or port related.

I just found this list of ports used by Apple products that might help:

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1629

Email: 25, 587, 110, 143, 993, 995
Me.com, iDisk, iWeb- and iPhoto- publishing: 80, 443
Back To My Mac: 4500, 5354

Also, I've found discussion indicating that mobileme sync will not work behind with a proxy server. This is not the issue in my situation, but it may help others to know about it.

HTH,
Blair

This might me a solution;
It is not a very clear way to solve this, but it works for me. I've created a Plaxo account. My outlook agenda at works syncs with Plaxo (I think this works through port 80 or 443, so every firewall will say this is oke).
On the other side (at home) I sync my iCal with the same Plaxo account. All my appointments from work come now on my iCal at home, this one syncs with Mobile Me (ofcourse).

So create a free Plaxo account, sync home and work with Plaxo, sync home with MobileMe.:)
