Hi,

New AppleTV 3 owner looking for help converting MKVs to MP4/M4Vs.

First I do have many MKVs with Dts. I want to convert (batch if possible) just remuxing the video stream and an Ac3/dd5.1 track or a converted dts5.1 to ac35.1 track and maybe a subtitle. Handbrake is nice but it reencodes the video. I did find a few older utilities made for mkvtomp4 for ps3 (before ps3 got mkv support) that work ok. my question is, do I also need an AAC track as well as ac3 pass through for it to play? some threads mention just ac3 and video won't play.

2nd problem is that I am on windows, though have a MBP though it's really slow coverting over SMB from the MacBook and would like a windows solution.

Finally I am a longtime XBMC user and used a media library program to scrape imdb, tvdb based on filename to create an .nfo to be read by xbmc with a poster fan art etc. I understand iTunes does the same with tags. Are there any match tools for Windows that do this?

Perfect would be iflicks but it won't work over SMB and I have close to 8tb of stuff to convert tag on my win box/file server. Subler works but is slow.

I've got a program that will do the conversion on windows but haven't found a batch tagger except metax, which muay be my only option, unfortunately it's not free (Mac version is and atomic parsley it is based on is). hoping for a freeware alternative.
