Hi, I want to install windows on my external HD(fat32) I had windows vista on my internal but it took up to much space. So i used winclone so i didnt lose any files. Little infot bout my ext HD, i have it formatted in 3 partitions, 1 mac os x journaled with a complete back up of my mac that is bootable too.(used carbon copy cloner) 2. i have a ms dos fat 32 partition on whicht i can put all my movies and still view them on my windows. and 3... that i also formatted fat 32 i want to put my vista on that. problem is everytime winclone runs into some error and 'freezes'. so i thought mabye the problem was that the HD was formatted fat 32 and no ntfs. but i cant seem to find any software for mac to format ntfs. what do i do?

Never mind about the winclone ive given that up:p, I discoverd from seceral other forums that i only niet to hold C down to boot from the cd and only needed the bootcamp firmware which i have. i also found out that after i start vista up from the cd i can pick my external HD. only problem is that i dont have a windows vista setup support driver for exernal HD's. but my cd apparantly does not have that driver. anyone know were i can get this driveR?

Since Windows refuses to boot on external drives, you will have a little trouble finding any such drivers, if they even exist.

Windows cannot use USB or Firewire devices as boot devices.

You may be able to get Windows installed on an external Firewire drive, but when you attempt to boot from it, you will not be able to.

The only way you will be able to boot Windows on an external drive is to use an eSATA drive. Windows will boot from these, since they appear as normal internal SATA drives in Windows.
