I have a mac leopard and I want to use Bootcamp but I don't have a windows or vista CD operating system thing so I can't install it. Is there a way I can get my windows apps and the windows operating system on my mac for free and quick?

There are some solutions that allow you to run your windows apps within limitations without XP or Vista, but I don't think any of them are free.

Crossover is one I think

wine for darwin is perfectly legal last time i checked.

But that will require some serious configuration I believe, unless the poster is already configured for XCode, etc. Not sure that qualifies for his "easy" requirement, but perhaps it does. Depends on the poster's expertise I suppose.

Apparently, I got Crossover for Mac, and it seems to suck, no offence to people who like it, but, some apps are not compatible with it, for example, Windows Movie Maker, which is a huge disappointment, I sure hope if there is a future update to the software that everything will be compatible, because at the moment, buying it is not worth it.

Why do you want to run Windows Movie Maker? iMovie is better than Windows Movie Maker by so much its not even funny.

Well, I must say, there are disadvantages on iMovie and one of them are the effects, I know there are slick effects, but you have to buy it, which really makes iMovie bad, everything else is fine, but without effects that comes for free makes iMovie useless, so therefore, Windows Movie Maker has some good things, and it is way easier, but I really don't mind which one to use, they are both good for different reasons.

Crossover is not the solution if you want 100% compatibility. I doubt it will ever reach 100% compatibility with Windows software. Anyway Crossover is just a commercial version of Wine.

Yes. By stealing it. Have you tried your local crack house?

^^ Note that the OEM edition of Windows will also work.

Thanks - that is excellent advice. I just purchased the OEM version on Amazon for under $100. It had tons of good reviews of fellow mac users who need the windows OS for just this purpose! :)
