I wanna instal on my new 24" iMac WINDOWS XP, but i don't know what is the difference between HOME edition and PROFESSIONAL. Can i in both create local area network? Is the Microsoft Office included in WINDOWS or it must be purchased? And what is better to purchase: a licensed one or simple? Will all my programs work on the licensed version?
Thanks!

Professional edition is used mostly for businesses and has some extra business-type applications. All you really need is Home Edition. Microsoft Office is not included with Windows, so you'll have to buy that separately. I'd actually recommend buying the new Office 2008 Mac version instead of the Windows version.

I don't exactly understand your license question. Could you explain it a bit more?

If you mean connect to the internet or your current network, they'll both do it. They both can talk/see/interact with the computers that are currently on your local network (provided you have one). Maybe some clarification on what you mean "create local area network".

Office is a seperate product. I too recommend buying the native Mac version. No sense in having it on the windows unless absolutely necessary. Opensource solutions also exist to facilitate this need as well.

If you mean box copy versus OEM version. Your programs will run the same on either version. OEM just mean (in plain english) you don't get the box, and support is very limited from Microsoft.
