Windows on my Macbook Pro

Hey there,

I just got a macbook pro and I was wondering which is the best version of windows to buy for boot camp?

Also are there any limitations using windows on mac or will windows run the same as PC?

Windows XP SP2 Professional will probably give you the best results.

Windows will run the same on your Macbook Pro as it will on any other PC.
 
i will be installing Windows xp Home edition..its very light OS and doesnt eat your HD or your ram.im going to use windows for microsoft office(through vmware) and games(bootcamp).

i do not recomment installing windows vista in anyway,its very big(eats your HD) and it works very slow..and incase you need to install drivers you will have TROUBLES!... so stay away from it.
 
Go with xp... I've tried both xp and vista ultimate... More eye candy on vista and works no hassle on the mbp but gives my mbp a very bad case of the infamous cpu whine, actually so does xp but only if you listen real close. Also, apps have trouble with vista and the install is much bigger. Personally, I use windows for games anything else Mac OS handles better.

I had Vista a while ago on my PC. The only reason I went back to XP was because it didn't have drivers to support my audio equipment and also didn't support my SCSI card for some reason. Also, when I get my mac, I will use the Mac for any devices that require drivers, and windows only for games, which Vista sucks for right now. Basically, there is really no reason for me to use vista with Mac, and I don't know what it would do for anyone. Until they get some decent drivers (especially video) then Vista is not worth it (and not even functional for many tasks).
 
Go with XP. Vista is bad.

For deals, search for ebay where a full XP Pro license is usually < $100.

If you decide to try virtualization software, VMWare is much faster and more stable than Parallels.

I have never done this before and I was wondering if you know where I could find info/drivers/tutorials about boot camp and how to create the most out my windows partition?

I agree. Most robust Windows Operating System. I installed Windows XP Professional on my MacBook using Parallels Desktop for Mac.
