Would I be able to used a recovery cd that I have from my current Windows XP PC to install windows on a mac?

Depends if it's a straight Windows install CD, or the more usual manufacturer specific recovery CD. The first will work, the latter is very unlikely to.

Also note that you would be braking your EULA to install that copy of Windows on any Mac: it's licensed for the machine it came with only.

Dell and Toshiba give you full copies of windows that are cd drive bootable. The other companies do not.
