My friend need a windows simulator so he can run some windows software on his mac. Which one would be the fastest and most relieble?

Thanks

There's also GuestPC or something like that, but its too new.

Just go with VPC... Unless you have a decent PC in the house. If you do, use Remote Desktop Connection.

Virtual PC is also my recommendation for the fastest and most reliable, but it's by no means the only choice. There is also GuestPC and iEmulator, both of which are much cheaper than VPC. QEMU might also be an option, but it's quite slow and I think it will only boot Windows 95, IIRC.

I haven't tried VPC or GuestPC before but was told that VPC is much slower than GuestPC. Anyone can confirm this? I'm going to bet my money on GuestPC soon.

Thanks for the head's up on GuestPC, I had never heard of that one. I might give it a try and see how it compares to VPC...
It's advertised quiet often here on MR ad banners. That's how I got to know GuestPC. ;)

And if you are a bit more technical there is QEMUX which is a free emulator:

I have never used this but I have heard it is fast.

I tried it about a year ago. In my opinion, it was no faster then VPC and didn't have all the nice features you get with VPC.

I've used both and no way is GuestPC faster than VPC 7.0.2. I have XP Home. I don't run anything major I use it for testing websites and to do that simple task VPC out does GuestPC easily. You get what you pay for in the end in this case.

Actually Virtual PC is the fastest so far... I have it and it never let me down. BUT: It is very slow. And there is no 3D acceleration. However, it is the only choice.

Oh, and when we are talking about a thing like this... we say "emulator", not "simulator". ;)
