In a van down by the river
Quick question for a friend who's a brand new switcher, he's running XP with parallels on his new MacBook Pro and is loving every minute of it. I cautioned him that if he surf's the web from the window's portion he needs to still have virus protection to which he said he's only running a couple of programs on windows he and his wife need for their repsective jobs and that the windows part has no internet network traffic running to it...so the question is, does he need to be concerned or is he safe since windows is not accessing the net?

I told him i truly don't know because since i switched last year i haven't seen a program yet i needed badly enough to run through windows on my mac.

Incidently he's running 10.4.10.

probably no such thing as no traffic. and you'd need to update windows too, so you'd have to (obviously) inevitably use the connection...so I'd say go for the virus protection. you can be connected and still get some worm, even if you think you're not doing anything that's using the connection.

Better yet, i'll try and convice him to quit using windows app's.
Ah don't do that.

Sometimes you need some apps cause there just aren't any good Mac replacements for them. I hate it when people spew that kind of nonsense at me. Maybe they should go buy me a copy of Visual Studio for Mac OS X. :p
