Windows Vista bootcamp on imac

I have a 2011 IMAC with 10gig of ram and thinking about loading windows on with bootcamp, but the only version I have is Vista. Will this work ok?

According to apple docs, no. They dropped support for Vista back in 2010 I believe and their current docs only mention installing Windows 7 or 8 and newer. Being a 2011, their docs say you cannot install the 64-bit windows 10 either, so you'd be limited to just Windows 7 with your current setup.

You might want to pick up some more ram, if you're intent on running a virtual machine-- whatever ram you allocate to your virtual machine can't be used by macos.

On the other hand, it may be that Vista can make do with rather less than Windows 10.
