Windows Vista OEM edition on mac parallel

Ok, I accidentally bought the OEM edition of Microsoft Vista. The warning labels all over the box have me way to nervous to even open it. I want it to be intact in case I have to sell it. Can I load it onto my imac, which has parallel on it, without the OPK? I guess the second part of that question is if it can be done, how difficult will it be? I have a pretty good understanding of both PC's and Macs, but I am not at the advanced level of a real tech geek. I am only a school teacher tech geek.

This is addressed in many other threads here. In a nutshell:

1) forget about OPK, you don't need to worry about it

2) the OEM version will install exactly the same as the retail version

3) the key differences with the OEM software are that you, as the "system builder," are responsible for support. You won't get any from Microsoft, except for activation assistance if needed; and you can't transfer the software to another machine ever. It's intended to be installed on one and only one machine.

Still not working.

Ok, I braved it, opened the box, and tried to install the software. I have Parallels 2.0, a new imac bought in Jan. 2007, and Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 32- bit (OEM). Do I need to upgrade to Parallels 3.0?

I created the new VM, I think. Then when I hit the play button so I can download Vista the computer tells me I need to restart the computer.

Any ideas?

Heh... I am a windows user, about to become a mac user, and I laughed at this. Microsoft does not provide support, period. You cna opt for some half baked service contract, but even if you are a commercial user who buys mapping transactions, their support is crap, crap, crap I tell ya'!

Everyone in the windows world buys OEM- you will be just fine

Select "Check for Updates..." from the "Help" menu to make sure you are using the latest version of Parallels 2.
