For you brave souls who installed windows vista rc1 on bootcamp, how's your experience? successful? did you get all drivers work now? namely:
1. isight
2. brightness

and anything that you found still not work?
played any game? is the graphic smooth? is the overall OS smooth?

Please compare to both the previous version of the vista, and Win XP

Thanks!

Much better than Beta 2, i.e. faster, more reliable.

However installing on a mac has problems for example.

- iSight doesn't work

- Audio drivers are a little wierd, some people get their Boot Camp ones to work, some don't, and have to use the XOM ones, which only give audio out headphone jack.

In terms of games, they run smooth except in some (such as Civ IV) the graphic drivers are obviously not fully compatible with the mac hardware, as they will do wierd things. Still playable though.

I ran Vietcong 2 with 128MB Video Ram on full settings and there was no frame-skip at all.

mac didn't make the graphic card, vista doesn't need to be compatible with mac for that.. ati makes driver for vista, that should work, no?

did you get brightness control to work?

Yeah but I was always under the impression that the graphics drivers in mac computers were slightly different to those in standard PCs. Something to do with BIOS/efi? maybe. I could be wrong... probably.

The new catalyst drivers from ATi are actually worse, so you will want to stick with the original ones that come in Vista.

i know... vista EATS spaces continuously, for some reason

for right click to work... extract the driver from the mac driver 1.1, and in the mac driver 1.1 extract's system32, find arc.exe and arc.<somethingelse>, copy both of them to the real system32 folder, and double click on arc.exe

then when u want to right click, hold the right apple key on the keyboard, and click

does brightness control work?

to the other poster... the catalyst driver for mbp's x1600 works much better than the one originally with vista (fine, i admit, i'm talking about the pre rc1, but at least in that case... does the new one improve?)

I have it working great on a Mac Book Pro. I have posted a guide on My Website for installing. I think that RC1 is much more stable then the Beta 2, and it just seems faster.
