Windows XP on MacBook Pro 10.4.11 Boot Camp Expired

Since Boot Camp Beta expired at the end of 2007 and is no longer available, is there a way to go about putting XP on my macbook pro without having to purchase the new Leopard. I'm just partial to Tiger, not so big of a fan of Leopard, and I'm a poor college student and can't afford Leopard. Also, if I were to go and create a new partition in my hard drive does it wipe it? I need to do this, but really don't want to lose everything on my mac. Thanks to anyone with help for either of my questions. I'm a noob and appreciate all the help people are willing to give. I'm running OS X 10.4.11 by the way.

A few weeks before boot camp came out as a beta, there was a contest to see who could get Windows to run first on a intel mac. Someone came up with a way and won the contest. I seem to remember it was a very involved process though and required access to another computer already running Windows. I am sure if you dig deep enough in the Forums you can find more about it.

Thanks for the help and the reply, but I'm afraid I'm no computer savvy person and don't want to risk it. I think i might just have to say fair well to Tiger and adapt to Leopard, I'm sure I'll grow to love it more, just change is hard to handle sometimes.

Is neither Parallels or Fusion up to the task for your situation?

you can use bootcamp on your comp with tiger as long as you set the system date to a time before it expired. then run bootcamp...should be enabled

once you do this make system date current again

when you want to get rid of it, you will have to repeat process to use bootcamp asst to get rid of partition.

I looked at parallels and decided they were still probably over my head, so i went out and bought Leopard today, they had it cheap at my school. only 89 bucks, i was excited. after the tho hours of install of Leopard, i get boot camp and run it as normal, but it wont partition my hard drive for me. says some files can't be moved. i read that i have to defrag it or something along those lines, but i'll call help tomorrow and see what they tell me. thank you all for your help and suggestions.

I upgraded to Leopard, but my boot camp still wouldn't work, so i backed up all my data, and reinstalled Leopard with the erase disc and install option, after I did that and installed all the new updates since the original 10.5 off of the disc it ran boot camp perfectly and I now have Windows working great for me, it was just a larger hassel than it should have been, but whats done is done and I'm still pleased with my mac and its ability to run both operating systems. Thanks again for everyone's input in trying to help me.

The dumbest fix ever !

Hi !

I just had this same problem myself. I was tearing my hairs out in frustration to make to bootcamp work again.
Searched the web, tried to reinstall over it... just name it.
When all hopes failed I tried the dumbest idea ever - and it worked -
CHANGE THE DATE and reinstall the bootcamp.

The sad thing is that when I was looking for similar posts in forums, in order to share my discovery I found out that it was already discovered - someone gave this link ( thanks to "P" ) :

Yes, I had a same problem with you guys.Out of frustration Id just browse the internet and looking for bootcamp has expired.Fortunately, I saw your forums and I'd just follow your instructions and it did!
