windows xp pro or windows 7?

i just got my mbp couple days ago. i use it for accounting and office work, and sometimes surfing internet so i think windows xp pro is the right choice for me until i heard about windows 7. my question is whether i need to upgrade to windows 7 on my mac for the above purposes. also, if it's necessary to upgrade to windows 7 within the next couple years in order to run 64bit windows compatible accounting or office software, how do i make a clean uninstall of windows xp pro?

You do a clean uninstall by deleting the partition entirely.

Just use Seven right off.

Go straight to Windows 7. XP is a dinosaur of an OS. Download the RC (which doesn't expire until like summer 2010) and buy Windows 7 when it's released in October. 64-bit is your best bet as well. 32-bit is dead.

Yes, you can still get it from the official Windows 7 site.

7 is built off of Vista. Vista was only bad before SP1, but that was years ago. Anyone who still hates Vista now has either not tried it since then or is just too ignorant to let go of their opinions. Windows 7 is the OS that Vista lovers want to move to and what XP lovers say is what Vista should have been. In other words, everybody loves it. And they should, Windows 7 is fantastic. It's like taking the advantages of Vista and adding XP's "snappiness".

As far as whether to run Boot Camp or Parallels/Fusion, that's completely up to what you're gonna do in Windows. For gaming or anything performance-related, Boot Camp. If you need productivity (like going from OS X to Windows very quickly or vis-versa), then Parallels or Fusion.

thx guys, then, i got another question. can i make upgrade installation of windows 7 pro by using the $99 upgrade package through the use of fusion 2? that sounds really complex 'cause i have to run fusion first, then, open windows os, at last, making clean upgrade from the windows 7 upgrade version! still, is fusion able to do that complex windows upgrade under mac's os? i just wonder...

7 also has better power management features than XP if you're working from a notebook.
