I'm looking at my iStat widget and it consistently shows a WindowSer.. (the name is cut off due to the iStat widget size contraints, I can't make it any larger to see the process name). This particular process always shows between 18-30%..

Is there any way to figure out what this is? I don't know if it's something that SHOULD be running all the time, what to do about it. I installed 2GB RAM but I have noticed that the used RAM is usually up in the 1.5GB range, even when I'm using just MS Word and Excel. This is also around the time I noticed that this WindowSer.. process has been running.

It doesn't show up when I look for it in Activity Monitor.

Any suggestions/help?

Thanks!

I can't remember if it's WindowServer or WindowService. I think it's WindowServer.

That process is related to the Dashboard and unfortunately:)p) has nothing to do with Windows, nor Microsoft. Usually for me it when I switch to dashboard it goes up to about 30%, then dies down quickly after everything has loaded.
