macOS winelib to help run "legacy" windows apps

As i explained in some of the previous threads I have started our company wants to determine the viability of using macs instead of windows pc's. We run three huge core applications, with two I have been having problems, the third is a set of custom develped windows applications that integrate with our databases, mainframes ect, I have been thinking of sollutions on making these apps available on the mac and it seems winelib might be the sollution, anyone have any suggestions or comments on the idea? Is it very difficult to port windows apps to mac os natively, and using winelib?

You might want to check out darwine which is an effort to port wine to OSX.

Porting is generally quite hard. If your apps have the "business logic" well separated from the UI code you might be able to port them reasonably well by recompiling the logic then coding a Mac front-end in Cocoa (or Carbon) to talk to the logic.

I reached winelib via the Darwine site. I hope that we can recompile the core business logic components and just write a nice Cocoa GUI, but im thinking winelib as a plan B. I havnt tested the apps under Darwine as binaries, but I know what the relavant business owners will say, "Why even run a mac if you are going to "emulate" windows", while I know darwine isnt emulation they will see it as just another form.
