Hey I am a total newb at this thing. So after winpwn rebuilts custom firmware should i use itunes 8 to reload firmware or get 7.7 for sure?

I just installed itunes 8 yesterday, why did i upgrade? Genius is cool though.

Winpwn won't work, but QuickPwn will. Just keep iTunes 8 and use QuickPwn.

wait why wont winpwn work? you mean it doesnt work with itunes 8 or iphone 3g or something?

I am getting a 2g one so i dont apply to my latter assumption

Oh I went on the internet (lol.) and i see these custom firmware already jailbreaked and it says just restore with itunes

Code:

Another fine release from the pr0x.org community.

**************************************************

This is a jailbroken iPhone firmware for iPhone 2Gs ONLY. By restoring your iPhone with this firmware via iTunes, you can jailbreak and unlock your iPhone.

Please note- restoring your iPhone with this firmware will erase everything on it, so be sure to back up your stuff!

*sorry about sluggish download speeds. Hopefully the speed will pick up once we get more seeders! SEED AS MUCH AS YOU CAN!

can i just use this?

I'd be leery about using a firmware I found online...

Anyhow, iTunes 8 adds a block for custom firmwares on non-already-pwned phones.

Seriously, it is faster and easier just to restore to an official firmware and then use QuickPwn.

wait wait wait..

okay well i am getting this phone from this guy who definitely hasn't JB or unlucked it yet. So it's definitely still an official firmware (don't know if he upgrade to 2.0 or not).

So can i just use quickpwn with it (assuming it's 2.0.2 or something)
