tis is my first 3gs ..i have always had 3g phones.....now i did JB and unlock using blackrain and it went straight thru without a problem. now i do not know if its tethered or untethered so my question is things like winterboard in cydia that require a reboot will that affect the jailbreak and unlock?

youll have to rejailbreak every time. this jailbreak is kinda annoying, although im thankful its out. what i mean by rejailbreaking, everytime the phone/ipod touch is restarted/ the battery dies, the thing goes into recovery mode. you just bypass itunes, and re-open blackrain. make it rain and youll be good to go again. its annoying but it happens. although i found a bug in blackrain. sometimes my iphone/ipod touch go into recovery mode all by themselves. i now keep my macbook air in my trunk incase this happens. im considering going back to locking my things because i only use them to have backgrounds and 5 icon dock.

so using something like sbsettings and when cydia says reboot instead go into sbsettings and just respring,,,,,,,,n]and i am unlocked also wouldnt re jailbreak cause me to loose whatever i had from cydia..

?!?! This is rather misleading. You will NOT have to re-jailbreak everytime, but you WILL have to run blackra1n/redsn0w to reboot your phone.

Im afraid if the phone needs to reboot you should probably let it. Not many installs from cydia need you to do this, but you can just make sure you install your apps like Winterboard at home in front of your computer.
Even though your phone will have the usb/itunes recovery logo when turned on/rebooted, all your data/apps/cydia apps will still be fine, you just have to run either of those 2 programs to Boot up your phone.

P.S. you would have got many more replies and help in the hacks forum.

Just reboot the phone and if it shows the connect to itunes you have a tethered jailbreak and you will need to just run blackra1n again, but it will keep all your settings and everything. its just a nuisence.
