I have heard pro and cons, like Customize LOCKS the backgrounds and winterboard allows custom work.. Very confused on what to load??
Any opinions are appreciated

BossPrefs is an entirely different application from Winterboard and Customize. Don't include it with them.

Winterboard is more powerful and seems to do much more than Customize at the time, but from my own experience Customize is more stable and doesn't throw my phone into a respring cycle like Winterboard has.

never really liked Customize and didnt even try the latest release so i'd have to say winterboard which i didnt have anyproblems with so far

I have heard that Customize locks the backgrounds and that is the problem i had and very aggravating!!

I use both. Winterboard for my overall theme, and then I use customize to alter sliders and the battery charge image, signal bars, etc. Customize seems to be the buggier app of the two for me. It crashes constantly, I'm just thankful I can apply what I need and forget about it. Winterboard is featureless, but it gets the job done for me.

Anyone know why Customize isn't functioning for me? After applying anything and restarting springboard I get.... nothing. Customize won't install icons, dock image.. nothing. Worked fine before upgrading to 2.0.1. Anyone else having this issue?

Can't comment on Customize, but Winterboard doesn't change anything on 2.0.1 either. Odd. Worked fine before the upgrade.

Winterboard alone works great for me.. I just hate that its so hard to change things that are easy in Customize with Winterboard. Really the Winterboard guy should join Customize and make one app that has the strength of Winterboard with the ease of use of Customize.

I've tried both Winterboard and Customize 2.1.0 on the 2.01 firmware and I like winterboard hands down better. Customize has tons of friggen permissions problems and you have to do all sorts of stupid ass hacks in order to get things to work properly.

I spent a day sshing and changing permissions and hacking until my phone literally stopped working properly and i had to restore. Spent 5 minutes figuring out how to create and implement a winterboard theme.

I am sure Summerboard is going to be coming out and improvements to Winterboard. As stated already Winterboard is like a temporary solution until Summerboard port to 2.0. As for Customize Spicy what the hell is name is needs to get his ish together and fix hte tons of damn problems with the app.

Personal recommendation: Winterboard for now.

WinterBoard > SummerBoard & Customize put together

WinterBoard by a long shot and for those that don't know it can load ALL the images that you can change with Customize but much easier. All you have to do is have the theme setup properly using the Bundles folder.

Want new carier logos? Place the images inside a folder named "com.apple.ATT_US" and put it in the Bundles folder. Want to load Battery images, place them inside a "com.apple.springboard" folder.

Same applies to any and all images even .artwork image files. Those go in the UIImages folder.

WinterBoard has never fouled up through several installs (3 iPhones and iPod) and all the updates (wish I had a buck for every time SummerBoard foobared my phone... I'd have like $10.00 ;)

...and what's the deal with having to connect to a web server for Customize to work???

Same for me, I use them both with no problems. As long as your not trying to alter the same files with both, you'll be fine.
