I'v installed Windows XP Professional x64 as a VMWare virtual machine, and have installed into it all the the Windows software that I must use but for which there are no Mac equivalents.
One such program requires a week-long negotiation with the software vendor to have its license activated on a different Windows installation (this doesn't cost anything, it just takes their customer service dpartment a long time to get it done.) Yesterday, I finally got the license authorization for this program so that it would run in my new Windows VM.
Also yesterday, I discovered a problem with Windows XP x64 running as a VMWare fusion VM on MacOSX: The control key doesn't do multiple selection! Selecting anything when the control key pressed is supposed to swap the selection state of the item: If it's not selected, it should become selected; if it is selected, it should become unselected. What happens instead is that a menu pops up that has nothing to do with selection state management.
I didn't notice the problem before because I was only installing software and performing basic functionality tests to ensure that my software would work on XP x64. It never occurred to me to test using the control key for selection state management.
Has anyone else seen the same problem? Are there any fixes or work-arounds?
Thanks for any help!
