With the new iPhone coming, it's time for me to prep my existing iPhone 4 and pass it on to my mama :)

Since it's jailbroken and unlocked (by AT&T), I'm looking for the easiest way to wipe the phone without losing either the jailbreak or the unlock.

Searching the forums pulled some confusing baseband talk (which i'm assuming is outdated?), and something about using the "erase all content and settings" will just freeze the phone... So help is appreciated! :) Thanks!

P.S. I hope the title is straight-forward enough to help future forum searchers I'm sure there are a number of people asking this over the next few weeks.

How is it unlocked? Officially or via jailbreak or other method?

IDK which basebands on the iP4 is unlockable trough jailbreak, but I'd just restore and re-jailbreak for best result, though be careful with your baseband.

If it's been unlocked by AT&T, just restore the phone, and re-jailbreak it.

PanicRoom used to work but last time i checked it hadn't been updated for ios5 maybe you could email the developer to see if he plans on updating?
Or there could be something else out there like this but i have never come across it.

So looks like the common wisdom is to restore and set up as new, then re-jailbreak, and the unlock from AT&T will not be affected. Correct?

AFAIK I unlocked my phone using SAM and then restored it. It didn't work the first time; seen that I re-did the process. Worked like a charm.

Anyway, if you used SAM, I strongly recommend you to backup the files using redsn0w.
