hey yall. I have an old iPod mini and will probably just reformat the whole thing and use it as a 4 gig flash drive. If I do, would I be able to re-format it and use it as an iPod again if I needed to?

Just use itunes to wipe it and set it to "manually manage music". That defaults "allow disc use". Now you can use it as an external drive (it has a hdd not a flash). This way you still have your ipod operating files for whenever you want them.

Well see what I wanted to do was install a small version of linux on it and have it as an emergency boot off of device in case one of my systems crash.
