MP 7,1 Wired mouse hanging constantly

I have a 7,1 Mac Pro and have been using a Logitech MX Master 2S wired USB mouse with it. It usually works fine but often will just hang for a bout a second every few seconds as I'm moving it around - it doesn't seem to matter what applications are running/etc.

I realize this is vague but is there anything I can do to troubleshoot this?

I'd start by using the Apple mouse and disconnecting the Logitech one: is the problem there as well or not: That could rule out the whole Logitech stack as being the culprit

Next I'd look at if you have the Logitech software installed or not (I would avoid any 3rd party software if possible, bit that's just me).

Also "hang": does it mean the cursor stops to move, the system showing a spinning beachball, does the keyboard still work while it hangs, do mouse clicks still work while it "hangs", ... in essence: define "hang".

^^^^If you avoid third party software, you'd miss out on a lot and wouldn't get much work done.

I'm using a wired mouse - Razer Viper - and a wired keyboard - Corsair K70 MKII SE. I have the Corsair iCue keyboard software installed even if I have no use for it.

I have experienced no hanging issues.

Thought that was a wireless model, but had a USB cord that could attach as an option. There were always issues waking these up in the past at client offices and we stopped using them. The true wireless models or true wired models are better than these hybrids.

FWIW, have multiple M510's that have never been an issue on many machines. Just wish they'd make a small USB-C unifying receiver already.

I use a Logitech MX Master 3 - the previous model before the Mac-specific model. Not sure what the real differences might be, unless it's just a different color and charging cable.

Anyway, it works fine and I like it a lot better than the Magic Mouse that came with the 7.1.

I use Wacom Tablets (w/Wacom Mouse mostly) and I have seen a couple times where the cursor would start lagging behind and jumping to my current location on the screen in pen-mode. The only solution I could find was to restart the computer. I then noticed that the Wacom Driver software had added additional instances of my tablet (corrupted). I am guessing that in all the random freezes/restarts I have been experiencing that it is responsible for causing this. I removed the conflicting instances and the mouse is no longer confused. So, might be the 3rd part software if your computer has been getting Kernel Panics.

Thanks - I think I'm going to get rid of this one and try the Mac-specific 3 model.

What a waste this one has been - I got a higher end mouse so I wouldn't have these issues!

If you're using Logitech software, try using USB Overdrive instead - I use a Steelseries mouse, and their software was garbage - it would always fail after a certain amount of time. USBOverdrive gives you access to all the button configuration, just doesn't let you set the LED colour.
