One of the reasons why my iPad sits and collects dust now is the inconvenience of charging now that my iPhone and AirPods charge wirelessly and the lightning cables have been put away.

when do you think iPads will adopt wireless charging?

Not seeing them switching the back of the iPad from aluminum to glass any time soon. Way too fragile and also adds way too much weight.

When I becomes possible to charge an iPad wireless in a reasonable amount of time

I'm not super concerned with needed to charge the iPad quickly over wireless charging. Typically when I'm not using it, it's just sitting on a table. I'd much rather it pick up a few % here and there while it's just sitting and then rely on an actual cable when I need to charge it up quickly.

It would take FOREVER to charge an iPad on a wireless charger. Just plug it into an old 5w iPhone brick if you prefer slow charging. lol

I'm sure technology will catch up with what you want at some point though.

You wouldn't gain enough % sitting to overcome the time of use unless you rarely ever used your iPad. The iPad will drain faster than charge even connected to a 5w brick and cable. The % gained verses lost wouldn't even be close.

Would either need a big charging mat with multiple coils or a really skillful placement every time on a smaller pad. Sounds inconvenient. I've switched to wireless charging for my phone and I like it, but that haven't stopped me from using and charging the ipad the old fashioned way.

I would also hate having a giant glass back to worry about.
