Been using a cheap wireless charging stand from Amazon since day one with my iPhone x. The phone would get warm and occasionally start and stop charging throughout the night. Never thought anything of it until 2 weeks ago. I woke up to a phone that was almost dead. It didn't charge over night. And only had 18%. It would indicate changing on the wireless changer but would stop after 10 seconds.
I tired to charge with an Apple cord and brick. It would indicate changing but not charge the phone. It was stuck at 18%. Took it to Apple. They tried to fix it and couldn't.
I got a brand new phone. :)

It made me curious so I did some online searched and read Amazon reviews for some cheap chargers and some reported that their phones were fried as well.

Of course it could be 100% unrelated but with my new iPhone X and the new XS Max that is on order I will be sticking to wired charging with apple only chargers.

Before iPhone I had 2 Android phones over a 5 year period that has micro USB charging ports fail so I was excited for wireless charging in iPhones but now I'm unsure :/

Thoughts?

I can’t figure out why someone will drop a grand on a IPhone and by a cheap $10 knock off charger. I’d be to worried about fire, damage etc.

one time I got fed up with having to buy a new cable every 3 months and bought some knock-off ones thinking I was gaming the system.

One month later my battery wouldn’t last more than two hours. Apple replaced the phone for free, and from then on I won’t connect my phone to anything but an Apple or MFi certified charger.

I agree with gelie. using an $10 charger with a $1000 phone is the same thing as some people I know using an iPhone X on a pay as you go plan.

Yup. Learned my lesson.
Thank goodness for warranty. Walked in and 30 min later walked out with a new phone

I only use high quality charging products with my phone.

I use some left over Samsung wireless chargers that I found; works wonderfully.
