Wireless Internet connection

Hey everyone,
I'm proud to say I finally made my first iMac purchase a few days ago. Refurb Imac 27in 2.66qc i5. Can't wait to get it in the mail. Sooooo pumped. This forum was especially helpful in making my purchase just that much more simple. Anyway, so I was wondering if Mac products use some sort of different wireless hardware? When I use my pc the wireless connection works but when my cousin brings her 13in mbp over she gets no connectivity. Anyone know why that might be? Thanks

So unfortunately I use my neighbors wifi. When I use my pc laptop the Internet connection is always on and strong. When my cousins mbp try to connect, the wifi name is visible and unlocked but just say "no connectivity" when she ttys to get on. The reason I was asking was cuz I can't afford wifi for a few more months and I wanted to know if my iMac will have any similar wifi problems. Sorry if that's not specific enough

Erm... if you are using the neighbors Wifi with permission, then sort it out with them.
If not, dont expect anybody here to help you steal someones internet (I for one wont help and if anyone else does I will glare at them )

I have there permission. I asked them to unlock the wifi for me. They just have no idea how to answer my question so I figured I'd come here.

it could depend on the router.
I've had problems with my sisters Belkin that works fine with her wired desktop(Windows), fine with my MBP, nephews MBP but as soon as we add any iphones, ipads or a Windows laptop the internet crashes and the router has to be reset.

Default settings other than adding a password to the network. Weirdest thing, disable the WiFi on the iOS devices or the Win Laptop and everything runs perfectly.
Sorry it didn't help but they are tons of variables.

Also, i'd suggest that if they are letting you use it, then have them put a password on it, just give you the code or else anyone within range can leech bandwidth.

What you should do is set up a password than only you and they know so no-one else steals

The only thing that I can think of from the top of my head is that for some reason your cousins mbp has some screwed up country/region code and your neighbors wlan is operating in the 12-13 channel range (which is not used in some countries).
