My MBP died last thursday and I am now in need of a fast internet connection on my Mac Pro. Currently I have a wired connection running through some netgear device that transfers the signal through outlets in the house. Works like crap. Internet is slow as hell and randomly goes off entirely. Wireless should be an improvement.
I tried calling an apple store. I was told that all macs have built in wireless and that I shouldnt need a wireless card. After reiterating my point several times and asking to speak to someone else, he finally says that he understands my question and tells me that he doesnt think they carry wireless cards for Mac Pros but he can transfer me to Apple Care.
Apple care guy spends about 4 minutes looking through website unable to find what he's looking for, so he transfers me to an online store guy.
Online store guy tells me that there is nothing I can buy that I can put into my Mac Pro that will allow it wireless access, and tried to sell me some sort of external solution with a ridiculous nonsense pitch about how it is 2011 rather than 2009 so it will be better!
I try to insist that there is a wireless card that I can buy, but he says that it's something that comes built in when the computer is manufactured, and since I got a refurbished Mac Pro, the original user opted out of a wireless card and it cant be added at this point. I just hung up at that point.
So I'm turning to MacRumors. What do I do from here?
