Anyone see the story in Mac|Life's July 07 issue titled something like "New Emerging Technologies" by Logan Kugler? It talks about a company called PowerCast and about how they are brining wireless power and wireless charging to the world. By the end of the decade iPods and iPhones should be able to be charged wirelessly. Oh, baby! :)

My Sonicare toothbrush can do this now, why not my iPhone? :)

It would be nice to charge a device metres away from anything, not millimetres like a toothbrush...

PowerCast is going to make it possible. You plug a transmitter into one of the wall power outlets in the room and it transmits power to any device within 3 to 10 feet. By 2015 that distance should increase to 30 feet and will be able to charge/power laptops or even an iMac within 3 feet. Sounds pretty damn promising.

--- I'll try and scan a copy of the story later today. It's very informative.
