I interpret that colon plus bracket as you being sad about this.
If you notice, in System Preferences > Bluetooth > Advanced there is an option to wake the computer via a Bluetooth device. That could not be possible, if the devices couldn't send a signal, which requires power.
But don't worry, you can turn the devices off via their Off switch, and if not, the (hopefully good) batteries will hold up to 9 months on moderate use.
Do yourself a favor and get some good rechargeable batteries. My rechargeables take just 15 minutes to charge and last just as long as non-rechargeable ones.
I could also turn off the mighty mouse and the keyboard while I am away, right?![]()
Absolutely, but it's always nice to eliminate having to turn it on and off each time you want to use the computer. With a good charger, such as a Maha-9000, you can just leave a set of batteries on them since it runs a trickle charge and then it's no biggie if you switch the batteries out every few weeks.
Of course, it's all personal preference and each person will prefer to do it differently.
