I'm having problems with my wireless mouse --- it was working find untilt he other day. My laptop recognizes the mouse but the mouse does not work. I've replaced the batteries and tried reinstalling. The same thing always happens, it installs, recognizes the mouse but doens't actually work. Has this happened to anyone?

Also, has anyone installed Limewire on their mac? Had problems or viruses? Should I buy and/or download a virus scan program? Is it worth it or are there really no viruses for macs?

Thank you!

I really wouldn't recommend limewire for any computer. Although mac's are relatively problem-free, you never know. Someone has to be the first to get screwed over by an attack.

ClamAV is a scanner for mac's. I doubt you'll need it - although I do have it installed, but never scan with it.

Are the batteries from a reputable brand? Wireless mouses need quite powerful cells (more expensive), otherwise they don't work properly. They'll generally allow you to click but not move the cursor.

As for LimeWire, it won't give you any viruses so you don't need to worry about virus scanning software. Having said that, it's pretty good at taking down a system, Mac or PC, as calebjohnston says. Random crashes, freezes and slow-downs seem to be the norm. :(

I have limewire installed on my iBook, and yes, it slows down the entire computer every time I start it. It is because it is written in JAVA, which takes time to process. I dont use it anymore, simply because it is too slow. Also, the latest update, 4.10, seems to be slower than earlier versions. I have never had problems with viruses, but I dont recommend limewire. While it is running it is as if you are running OS X and any other programs your using with 128MB RAM. Apparently Acquisition is a good alternative, or you could just use iTunes :).
