Hey forum!

Purchased my first ever :apple: Mac today, a 20" iMac with 2GB Ram, Wireless KB and Mighty Mouse and thought I'd throw in iWork too. I'm not going to be doing anything hugely intensive with it so thought these specs would be fine.

Just for reference now more than anything, does anyone know whether or not iMac's shipping since MacWorld have had pre-N enabled? Technically they've announced it now and so does this mean that they can ship with it enabled to get around whatever law it was that they were trying to? I don't mind forking out $1.99, although at the moment I don't really have any need - my router's only capable of wireless b/g - would just be a nice extra for future-proofing maybe.

Quick side-question too: Will all of the most recent updates be applied when I buy it? Kinda like if you buy a computer with Windows XP it now ships with SP2 - does the iMac ship with 10.4.8 or will I need to do an update when I first get it? Obviously I'm sure there's smaller updates that will need doing, like the recent Quicktime one for instance.

Am pretty stoked about it turning up soon! 3 days seems so far away!

Cool man. I took the plunge a couple weeks ago and am lovin my mac! :)

I bought it from an apple store directly. I don't know if they have a large stock or not but I had to download a TON of updates. Hundreds of megs worth. So I would guess I had an older version. Anyways it didn't take too long and was quite painless.

Don't know about the N thing. I guess you'll just have to see. :)

It will be as up to date as it can be from when it was manufactured. Of coarse it will be more up to date if ordered online.

Specs on the website say that it comes with 802.11g... not n, so you're going to have to buy the enabler like everyone else. It even says "Built-in 54-Mbps AirPort Extreme wireless networking (802.11g standard; 802.11n capable with optional 802.11n enabler)".
