OK but your brothers computer is not connected is it? N routers slow to G speed if there are any G devices connected, perhaps even detected...

i finnaly got my core 2 duo imac yesterday i love it the only thing is im having problems with updating wireless its the 2ghz model i bought the wireless N enabler and i have the belkin Wireless Pre-N Router and im still connecting around 54mb it seesms any one know what i should do this is the Router i have http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=184316

The pre-N Belkin is not the same as Draft N.
Pre-n was abandonware. It was essentially 802.11g++ with more than one channel going at once. It will not work at anything other than 802.11g rates with your mac.

Sell the router. Buy an Airport Extreme (n)
