wireless networking issue

At my house we have 2 rooms with multiple computers in each of them. One room is on the top floor and the other is on the bottom floor. Each room currently has an ethernet switch connecting the respective room's computers. We can't run an ethernet wire between the two rooms. Therefore, we need wireless. Is it possible to buy 2 wireless accessories and connect the 2 floors? Thanks.

Also..since i have a mbp I can go anywhere in the house and get internet with wireless =P
 
How many computers are we talking about?

One solution might be to buy a wireless router, and then wireless USB adapters for each computer that didn't come with wireless capabilities. That's what I've done in my home.

I'm sure there are other more complicated solutions (you can setup internet connection sharing between two computers that are connected to each other-for example), but I couldn't possiblity explain them accurately.
 
if possible i'd like to make the two switches talk to each other wirelessly. I don't know if anything like this exists but it would be the best thing for my setup.
