Hi all, I'm new here! I'm a longtime Mac user and finally am replacing my PCs with Macs (one more problem and my HP is out the door for an iMac).

But I was over at my friend's house the other night and we were sitting side-by-side surfing the net when we noticed that my MacBook was about 10x faster while surfing wirelessly than his MBP. We ran a few benchmarks downloading websites like cnet, usatoday, cnn, etc. Ran a few speedtests and mine consistantly beat him. Granted, he's had his MBP about a month longer than I've had the MacBook, but he shouldn't have this slow of a wireless connection.

Anyone else experience similar instances and anyone fix it?

Well, since you asked, can you go to http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ and tell me what kind of numbers you're getting for your download speed? As I posted in another thread, I'm used to playing online poker using a java applet at pokerroom.com... and when using airport, I kept getting "slow connection" warnings, which made it pretty much impossible to play. I since plugged in an ethernet cable, and everything is fine.

According to the speedtest, the download speed using my old Powerbook was twice that of my brand new Mac Book Pro... the more I use this thing, the more disappointed I am in my purchase...

The MacBook has excellent wireless reception whilst the MacBook Pro has only mediocre reception, as a rule. Of course, this shouldn't be an issue if you're both close to the router though. :)
