I've been having some problems now with my wireless internet, hoping you all can help me figure this one out.
I'm not sure if the problem is with my IMac, router, PS3 or some combination.
My cable modem is connected to my Linksys WRT54g wireless router. I have a unique SSID set up.
The IMac is connected through airport wireless to the router. Typically, my IMac maintains a good solid connection and I have no issues with it. The IMac is physically located next to the router and could be wired to it.
I have an airport express station that is in another room, (where the ps3 is) and it is used for Airtunes, hooked up to my home theater. 95% of the time I do not have any connectivity issues between the IMac running Itunes and the express station to play music through the stereo.
My PS3 is in another room and is set up to connect wirelessly to the same router. This is where the problems start to happen.
If my wife is on the IMac, and I start up the PS3, the PS3 will immediately try to connect to the router, which disconnects the internet on the IMac. The PS3 can connect and get service, but more often than not, it will quickly lose connection.
Typically at this point, I'll turn off airport on the IMac, and then turn it back on again. So I'll be good again for internet on the IMac but not on the PS3. I have never been able to get both to connect at the same time, which leads me to thinking there may be a problem with the router?
The only reason why I think that may not be the case, is that I used to have a 360 and didn't seem to have these issues.
I also have an older titanium power book that is primarily used just for surfin' the net. It doesn't seem to have problems connecting to the internet simultaneously with the IMac.
I would greatly appreciate any help in getting all of this to work together. I've never been able to really do anything live on PS3 because of this. Also, I ahve heard that there is a lot of cool things you can do with both a PS3 and a Mac. I still don't really know what all I could do, but need to get them both working for starters.
