Hey all,

I just borrowed my girlfriend's router--an older wireless Belkin 802.11b--to try out before I buy something newer (DI-624?) for my g5 pm.

Are most routers this EASY to set up, security-wise? I went to the router homepage, simply clicked on the mac address filtering link, clicked enable, and was done. Clicked on encryption link, entered in 128 bit code, done. Etc., etc.

I've just heard about so many configuring nightmares, should I stick with another Belkin? Would the D-Link router be this easy to configure?

Thanks, Sapiens.

My Linksys WRTG54 802.11b/g router was pretty easy to set up. I think most routers are easy to set up, especially if you can configure them from a browser, which most do.

Set SSID Broadcast off, rename your wireless network name, turn on encryption and set the firewall on the router and your OS and you should be fairly well protected.

If you encounter any problems, it should be easy enough to fix. Just simply invert the ionic phase in the downpulse of the field margin.

(Sorry just always wanted to give that answer to a question! :p All routers should be pretty much that easy to configure. I don't know about the Belkin but I recently bought a Linksys router and it was pretty much just following the instructions. You sound pretty tech savvy so I'm sure you won't have any problems. Upgrading to a 802.11g router is probably a good idea.)

Actually I think you're right. You need to revert it, rather than invert, otherwise you'll end up recallibrating the isotonic parameter and exponentially decrease the processing power of the outboard motor.

Phew, I'm glad we got that sorted out! ;) :p

 What is the boiling point of brain?

Thanks for this post though, I had a long night of some bylaw changes and code modifications and so I spent a number of hours which I will not disclose rearranging words and navigating a maze of heretofore's, henceforth's, pursuant to's, and in lieu of's, along with 97 pages of subsections and half-page sentences.

To the OP, I think you'll be fine. EVERYTHING should be as easy as configuring a wireless router, and the world would be a much better place :).
