Wireless Sync - Video files updated EVERY sync

Anyone else noticing this? I had recently synced my phone and wanted to copy over a ringtone. It copies over fine wirelessly, but then the syncing copies another 20 or so files related to the videos I have on my phone. It's not re-copying the actual video files (not taking that long), but it's doing something, and it's driving me nuts. EVERY TIME I sync or copy a file over to my computer, it has to update them.

Anyone else getting this, and do you know why?

Not sure either. Every time I sync, iTunes copies about 300 files to my device.

When I do a full sync, I get that, too. I know some of it are genius files. Not sure why they have to be updated every time...

Yea I had a movie copied over via wifi sync and it worked. Later on when I syncing via USB it just recopied it.

My wife deleted a few movies straight from her phone. When I did the re-sync via wireless, it copied those movies back over. Weird thing is that it put the phone at over 4GB over capacity, but it still copied them over.

There are clearly some issues to work out.

I was just about to post about this. I downloaded a bunch of video podcasts that I synched over wirelessly last night, and now it is showing in iTunes that it is copying them all back, and it is taking a LONG time....

IOS 5 will remove application data from caches to make space for newly synched music, movies, etc. Mapping and other applications that download a large amount of data should be storing it under caches.

Here are the the developer guidelines for the 3 storage areas .

1. Only documents and other data that is user-generated, or that cannot otherwise be recreated by your application, should be stored in the <Application_Home>/Documents directory and will be automatically backed up by iCloud.
2. Data that can be downloaded again or regenerated should be stored in the <Application_Home>/Library/Caches directory. Examples of files you should put in the Caches directory include database cache files and downloadable content, such as that used by magazine, newspaper, and map applications.
3. Data that is used only temporarily should be stored in the <Application_Home>/tmp directory. Although these files are not backed up to iCloud, remember to delete those files when you are done with them so that they do not continue to consume space on the user’s device.

No clue. iTunes showed that it was all on the phone, but I imagine some of it wasn't actually there. Probably showed as copying the movie files over, but didn't actually. I guess. Didn't look like it deleted any other data that I know of. But I didn't check the actual movie files. I just deleted them from iTunes and re-synced.
