Wireless Trouble

Well, I've had a problem with pretty much every wireless item I've purchased in the past three weeks.

First I bought the Logitech S 530 wireless Keyboard/Mouse set. I thought it was an OK set, but then the mouse began to jump around erratically from time to time. I thought that it must be defective, so I took it to the store and tried it there, and it was fine. I figured, why risk it though, so I replaced it with another set. Needless to say, the new set did the exact same thing. I tried it on my windows machine, and it did the same thing as well.

This is not some small glitch btw, the mouse will literally wander off in a random direction for more than a second sometimes.

So I returned the S 530 combo again, thinking it was a bum design and replaced it with the Apple Bluetooth wireless keyboard and the Logitech MX Revolution. This is pretty much the best Keyboard/Mouse set imaginable. The only problem is that BOTH of these are experiencing problems. The mouse is doing the exact same thing that the previous two mice were doing, and the keyboard will sometimes stick on a letter for a second or so. The keyboard thing drives me crazy. For instance, I'll be typing "drives me crazy," I'll look up at the screen and I'll see "driiiiiiiiiivvvvvvvvvvveeeeessss mmmmmmmeeeeee cccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccrrrrrazyyyyyyyyyyyy."

Has anyone heard of a problem like this before? I have an older wireless keyboard/mouse set and it works fine. I'm thinking that these newer items are using 2.4ghz signals that are catching some troubles in the air somehow. I thought maybe it was my wireless router, but I turned it off to no avail.

Any of you guys have any ideas? Or has anyone ever heard of anything like this happening before?

Microwave ovens and wireless telephones are normally the culprit here. Either of those in close proximity?

It seems strange to me that you'd be having such troubles - and I'm guessing this is an instance of their being interference from something.

You seem to be having trouble with both the S530's USB-dongle based RF and with the Bluetooth. Both are a bit different, so it doesn't sound as though it's a hardware issue.

Check around your house for anything that might interfere. If you have close neighbours (i.e. apartments), try moving your computer and see if you can do better somewhere else.

It's very strange. And the worst part is that it is so intermittent that I can't figure out what's causing it. The fact that I never had these problems before with my old Logitech MX3100 set is evidence that it must be caused by the 2.4ghz signal or the way these items communicate and change frequencies. There are no cordless phones on this floor and no microwaves nearby either. I have a few neighbors with wireless networks that I cannot control though, but I doubt that's the problem. Surely this would be more widespread of an issue if a wireless router from a neighbors house could cause these things.
