Hi,
I just purchased an iBook 500 with the original airport card in it and I was just wondering what would be the best wireless solution. The thing is that I have high speed were I live in the city, but at my summer house we only have dial-up and I would like to be wireless in both places. I was thinking about maybe getting an Airport with a modem built it used off eBay. Is there anyway I can use an Airport Express with a modem, because I wouldn't mind having AirTunes also. Is there some kind of third-party device that meets these needs? AirTunes is not crucial. Any suggestions?

as far as i know, there is no third party device that offers both airtunes and modem-networking capabilities. the airport extreme base station with modem built in would obviously be your best bet, because the modem support would be there when you need it, and it is worked right into the OS, which is really nice.

i think your best bet, if you wanted to drop this much money, is to buy both the airport extreme base station w/ modem and airport express... both will work together seamlessly with eachother and the OS, and will provide everything you need. see if you can find them cheap on eBay, but in my opinion, for your needs, that's your best bet.
