This is a far shot but, since I'm using this Mac Mini as my primary system, is there anyway I could get a few upgrades for it?

The system base model came with a 500G drive (5400RPM) and 2G (2X1G) RAM. I've installed 4G (2X2G) RAM of my own ram. It's helped but, still amazingly slow.

Hard drive - http://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/SSDEX3G240/
Memory - http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other World Computing/1333DDR3S16P/

Sub-Total: $383.98

The upgraded hard drive (SSD) will help speed the system up and the first drive (500G Sata) will be a secondary storage/backup drive. With the RAM upgrade, I will be able to run VirtulBox a lot faster as well. (Windows 7/8 etc).

Let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Michael

Hopefully I can get the hardware. We are primarily a Microsoft/Cisco shop but, we have several employees that run Apple products. I was given this system to help test and trouble shot issues the other people have. (Of course, they all have 17"/15" MBPs and several MBAs. All decked out and rocking, I get the base Mac Mini. haha).

Either way, I hope to get the hardware at least. (We are an authorized reseller for Apple, I kinda wish I could get a rMBP or even a decked out MBA but, I doubt that'd ever happen.)

Nothing as of yet. Most usually, if it's a no, he responds back quickly. So this might be a good sign.

Hopefully....

The SSD will really speed things up. Extra memory might or might not depending on what you are doing.

My first kernel panic. I wonder if the RAM I'm using caused it. 2011 MM requires 1333 and I added 1066.

You need to meet the requirements of the mini.

Yeah, I understand that and I knew (figured) there might be an issue. I figured 4Gs of ram at 1066 would help the system run better than with the 2G of ram at 1333.

I know.. if it has kernel panics, it's not helping it run at all. :) Until I get a reply or I buy my own ram to put in here, I'll suffer through the panics.

----------

Nope, 1066 MHz should just work fine. Maybe you got a bad RAM stick?

I read several places that it will and they might very well be bad ram. It was out of my brother's Macbook when I gave him my ram out of my Macbook when I upgraded.

Curious to know, did you have something plugged into the headphone port when you first booted after installing the RAM?

Just got wind that my request for RAM is not at the top of my manager's list so, that's a good sign. I just doubt the SDD drive will go through.

I'll update again when something comes up.
