Hi all,

I've been looking for quite a while for a Palladium Games style Character Generator/Campaign manager. I've looked into a few of the "d20" versions on Versiontracker but they're all essentially AD&D (blech!).

So here's the question: Is anyone interested in building such a beast?

I was looking for something useable with Rifts RPG. I've got quite a collection of books scanned in as PDF's to make carrying them around easier plus a collection of third-party PDF-only supplements. I was guessing that I could use these books to build a database of skills, character races/classes, etc.

I have no idea how easy it would be to build one of these from Java or simply base it on something on VT like PCGen. I have ZERO interest in marketing this idea, I just want to be able to do character gen in some reasonable amount of time without having to hunt around in 40 or so supplements and then juggle a tiny character sheet and a whole lot of OCC/RCC mod notes.

All ideas welcome.

Palladium is incredibly litigious. Which means, if you create a spreadsheet/chargen program, Palladium and Kevin "******" Sembedia will sue you to the moon and back.

If you find one, keep it to yourself; it'll likely get shutdown. :)

Precisely the problem....

The buggering thing is that it's an excellent system with nice, streamlined rules but the books are laid out HORRIBLY.

I may just have to turn it all into html and keep it on a secure LAN. There's way too much info in that system for the way it's laid out. The OCC's/RCC's are spread across the whole series of some 40 books, as are the skills. Only their magic, cybernetics and world generator have shown that they have any real interest in making the publication user-friendly.

If there was an easy way to sell my services to them for putting it up as a secure webdomain, I would.

I guess I'll just have to install the developer kit and dig into PCGen.... Sourceforge had something to say about being able to customize where it's pointed and how the fields are defined...

Thbbt....

Yo Sembeida!

I'll put your books in some kind of useable format if you'll compensate me for it and NOT sue me for making my own compillation solely for the purpose of making GMing less cumbersome.

Remember Rollmaster? The two-plus-day character gen? Remeber laughing at that and then rolling up a Palladium Games character in less than an afternoon? Remember when a complete Palladium collection still fit in a backpack?

Come on guys... Let's really compete with WOTC's revamped AD&D3.5 and put all of it into some discrete and handy "hitchhiker's guide" format.
