Witch system apps do you think will be removable in iOS 10 final?

Here is my opinion... What do you guys think?

Of the remaining non-removable apps...

Impossible:
- Settings
- App Store

Not Going to Happen:
- Phone
- Messages

Very Unlikely:
- Photos
- Camera
- Wallet

Possibly:
- Safari
- Clock

Probably:
- Find iPhone
- Health
- Activity

Definitely:
- News

This is already not true. The news app is not currently removable but was added to the App Store last week... Good indication that it will be removal in an upcoming beta... There could be things to work out for certain apps.

One thing that I don't like is that Apple has all of the system apps rated at 4+ in the App Store even though the apps can not be rated. They either need to not show a rating for system apps or allow them to be rated... It's an extremely dishonest business practice to post false ratings for your own product.

I'm aware that the apps don't actually delete from the device... But hiding them isn't really an accurate description either, because they are also rendered unusable. Perhaps "disabled" would be the best word.

Also, an app being disabled because of law, and allowing a user to disable it are two different things... In beta 1 it was not a user-disable app... And for what ever reason it appears that it will become that way... So there was either something not ready regarding the option or Apple changed its mind... Both scenarios could happen with other apps as well.

Nor are they hidden... They are disabled. They are hidden, but they are also non usable, and all content and settings actually are deleted..

They still exist in storage but have been removed from any operational use. So while they are on the SSD... They have effectively been removed from iOS. . Something that is hidden is still accessible...

Phone, Messages, Photos, Wallet, Safari, and Health will never be removable because removing the app, while not deleting it, unhooks itself and all its functionality from the system itself.

Remove any of these, and there's no way to access their functionality (since iOS web browsers are actually an extension of Safari) which the system relies on, and these are all things Apple considers core functionality (there are no replacement apps for Phone, Messages, Photos, Wallet, or Health)

No. No user can rate or leave a review of system apps, at least for now. What you see "rating" is ESRB age restriction rating, not app "App Store" rating.

I think you should add "phone" into "impossible" category as no one would be either allowed or want to develop a new phone app. VOIP is another story though.
Or long story short, other than news app, or maybe Find , no more system apps can be removed. Ah, perhaps we can remove Camera in the future? I know there is a "Camera+" app.

Removing the Camera app would probably break the camera function from within the Messages app.

But if Apple provides proper API then it would work with third party ones. Or Apple can keep a minimum amount of code available only for messaging app.

I think every stock app should be 'hidden' by hold-jiggle-delete (except the Settings.app) just like third party apps, but to 'unhide' them you have to go to the Settings.app to do so.

While I would definitely like for that possibility to exist, it will not happen with iOS 10, and most likely not with an future version for the next few years. The reason being Apple's apps are the default and only option to perform actions like text messages, phone calls, and NFC payments. For your concept to be useful, Apple would need to open up an API to perform system actions like the above, and allows its apps to take a backseat, something I don't see Apple as eager to do.

- when an Apple app like Mail app is removed to set a different app as your standard e-mail client e.g. Spark, Airmail
- option to use Calculator, Weather on iPad so I won't have to use a third party calculator via the Notification Center (Launcher widget) to get access to it quickly. I know you can also access it via Slide Over but then you have to search scroll through all apps that support this (if you haven't used that 3rd party calculator in a while). That's another thing that Apple should really address (search in Slide Over apps quickly and/or have a (de)select option for apps to show.

Remember, you can never rate apps in a Beta OS. They may be about to be rated in the release of iOS 10.

I think that the Phone and Messages apps are probably ‘impossible’ to delete too. You could still receive calls and SMS/MMS after all and I think that this would lead to user confusion. They could add Messages to the list for iPods and iPads, but not for iPhones. Safari is also tricky. No weblink would work anymore, including the news section in Siri Suggestions and Spotlight Suggestions. I think Apple would only ‘remove’ those apps that have no permanent hooks elsewhere.

I agree I really want the ability to set default apps for things like email and web browsing. I hope that's the direction Apple is moving with iOS.
