I was wondering if in the new 12.9 inch iPad pros and its 2500 dimming zones that can be lit independently of each other, do you think we can see an increase in battery life if we switch to dark mode all the time?

It might make sense right that if we use less of the Mini LED to light up the LCDs, we might get more mileage in terms of battery life?

Technically maybe but then that’s offset by having the M1 and more cores and Ram
Aside from the M1, any savings would probably wouldn’t even be noticeable IMO

Battery life hasn’t been great so far, I know it’s only been 2 days, I’ve lost 50% for around 2 hours usage

The 2022 iPad Pro will have 5,000 Mini LEDS heck the XDR Pro Display at 34” inches has like 576 Zones it’s a technical marvel that a 12.9” display has over 2500 zones.

That sounds like you have a defective unit. I used mine for about five hours before it hit 50%.

Thinking it’s a game I’m playing that most likely isn’t optimised for the new iPad yet.

battery life on my 2nd gen ipad pro 12.9 is much better than this new one wich goin back
interesting as the battery on 2nd gen should be at average capacity by now, versus new battery of the M1 device
for me HDR content is best viewed at the tv no point having a small screen for that
