I'm asking this question because of the recent crypto price crash, miners are now selling their GPUs in numbers so the used market has way more GPUs than they used to (supply greater than demand). This also affects new card prices which means ultimately both Mac and PC users benefit from lower prices. Cards like the macOS compatible AMD RX6600 are now selling below their MSRP, making it what I think is a reasonably good time for system upgrades (if you are in need of one).

Great time to be in the market for a GPU. Just saw yesterday a NIB AMD 6900xt for $850 $750 now no tax which is below $999 msrp + tax. If you plan to build a hackintosh go AMD otherwise Nvidia is better for workloads like Blender.

Nope, a younger me foolishly sold his 2080Ti in anticipation of the 3080, but then the great GPU depression of 2020/21 hit. Which tempered my enthusiasm of PC gaming. Fortunately, I managed to get an early Steam Deck preorder in, so MacBook Pro + Steam Deck life for me.

I ordered within the first 75 minutes and I am still in the July - Sept stream deck order range.

:(

I'll wait and see whatever the 4090 (or any high dram/cuda count card) brings to the table, and fold back on the earlier generation if more cost effective.
