How can I view these files on the iPad. I have a program in school called blackboard that is web based for my clasess. The videos on the website are windows media video files. How can I watch these? And second if there are PowerPoint slides to download how do I view those?

At this time, I think your only choice is to convert the WMV files into MP4's using any number of available video conversion apps....this forum is filled with threads talking about ripping DVD's to MP4's, converting videos for use on the iPad, etc.

If you are willing to hold your breath, VLC has been turned into an iOS app and has been submitted to Apple for approval. If approved, it will be available in the App store. VLC will play WMV's natively, among many other formats as well.
