This isn't much help since I don't have a link, but at MacWorld there was a company taking the new 24" displays and adding touchscreen to them. Very hefty pricetag though..over $2,000 if not close to 3g's.

Not only would your arm get tired, your eyes would go bonkers looking through all the fingerprints on your screen.

In all honesty, I just don't get a touch screen on a desktop. An iPhone or iPod Touch I can see, but a desktop? Makes no sense.

I used one of those HP Touch screens last night. Have to admit it was pretty, but my finger doesn't glide across the screen because of all the grime all over the place. It was also too tiresome to actually be effective.

Touch screen iMacs are not new, companies have been adding touch screens as far back as the first generation. It really wasn't/isn't in high demand, other then POS and kiosks.

Maybe now with multi-touch and if Apple embraces it might take off. However, I would have to agree that I think your arm would get tired after awhile.

Do some research on what multitouch interfaces can do.

Then throw out absolutely everything you know about computer GUIs.

Then come back with an open mind and I'll give you a hint of what OS XI will be.

The first part of my post was tongue-in-cheek cuz all multi-touch demonstrations so far have failed to impress.

There are several touchscreen upgrades available. Be prepared to pay almost as mich as your iMac cost to do it though.

The only actualy use for this i can think of is if a company (such as an apple store?) wanted a touch screen for their POS.

Side note: If i ever catch anyone getting their fingers even remotely close to my screen they get a whack!
