Anyone able to wake up their iMac (I'm using a new one) from a PC? I only have one mac and have tried a couple different PC tools and have been unsuccessful. I've been able to wake PCs with the same tools.

Thanks,

Jason

Thanks Mohan - i check out the links and do have that option enabled. I'll see if I can borrow a mac and try out the mac app for testing, but ultimately I need a PC to do this.

Sure. :)

The site discusses a PERL script... whatever the PERL script does, it should be implementable on any system. You just have to figure out a way to make a WOL packet that conforms to whatever Apple's requirement is.

no dice

no dice - tried using an old imac and it doesn't work. I'd think it might be the switch, but I'm able to wake two PCs connected to it.

tried wake550
ip: 192.168.0.98
broadcast 255.255.255.0
mac: 786176696572

but no luck - any other ideas?

This is a wired switch, right? A wireless one can trash the WOL packet, from what I understand. I guess some wired ones may also do that....

yes, it is a wired, netgear gigabit switch. I have a windows server attached to the switch that can wake another windows machine connected to the same switch. Are there any other network settings that can impact this?
