I just downloaded the game and chose play online. I do not get any servers to show up in my server window. It is set to Internet. What now?

You definitely want to make sure you have the latest version (2.60d). It's kinda hard to find these days so I have hosted a copy on my MobileMe iDisk. You can download it HERE (257MB Universal Binary)

Also, if you think you might get into it, you can download my WolfLink app that allows you do launch the game and go directly to your favorite servers.

If you are looking for a Mac friendly server with a tight community I suggest you visit the <HH> Alpha Base. (It’s a default server in WolfLink, or you can go directly to the IP 216.223.160.251). We usually have a decent group on every Friday or Saturday night. You don't have to worry about hacks/bots or abusive players.

Look for <HH> squirtz. I can answer any questions you may have about the game. Hope that helps!

Thanks for posting that, I'll give it a try sometime. Just for laughs I tried ET on my old G4 cube running leopard with a Radeon 7000 card. Even with the graphics options set to "fastest" it wasn't really playable, about 25 FPS at best, but often dropping into single digits.

But I'll give your server a try next time I'm at one of my intel macs and have time.

I remember playing it on my Quicksilver G4 (733mhz) …got about the same fps as you with major tweaks to the config to make uglify the game :D

I think someone once told me it's very processor intensive even on windows. I remember a pIII box I used to play it on would drop to about 2 fps if I was near an airstrike.

My wife still plays on an iBook G4 1ghz. You can get more fps out if you manually tweak the config. (in addition to setting graphics to "fastest")

These two will help with the explosion slowdown.

seta cg_wolfparticles "0" -- gets rid of fiery splosions
seta cg_atmosphericEffects "0" -- gets rid of snow, rain, etc.

…and more

Of course, if you have a machine made in the past 3 years you should have no fps trouble at all.
